Texas devrimi sırasında Meksikalı Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana Texas'ı istila ettiğinde, 190 kadar Texaslı kalenin iç avlusununun yıkık dökük duvarlarından içeri sığınıp, kaleyi kuşatan ve sürekli top ateşi altında tutan 5.000 - 6.000 kişilik İspanyol ordusuna 12 gün direnmeyi başardılar. On üçüncü gün (
6 Mart 1836) Meksikalılar kaleye girdiler ve Mrs. Dickinson adında bir kadın, çocuğu ve iki hizmetçi dışında bütün Texaslılar öldürüldüler.
